John's XLNT (Willow Glen)

One Saturday evening, Annie wanted to eat a large hunk of lamb. She had heard of a restaurant, Athena Grill that was supposed to have good Greek food but unfortunately they were not open on weekends. So we settled on John's XLNT Food in the Willow Glen neighborhood of San Jose.

When we got there, we had to wait a while until we could be seated. Annie ordered the braised lamb shank. Talk about a large hunk of lamb! It was good.

I ordered the lamb chops. Even though I ordered them medium, the largest chop was still rare in the middle. It was okay only, nothing to shout about. Annie liked my chops better than her braised lamb.

This is our friend's prime rib cut. That was another large hunk of meat!

This was our second time at John's and I have to say, it's not as "XLNT" as people say. I think we ordered the right dishes but they just don't come off as memorable.

Aloha.
